My First Card!! (Well, sort-of)

This was my first attempt at cardmaking.  Well, actually I made some Valentine cards for my grandchildren that were cute but very simple so they don't count. LOL

I fell into this wonderful craft quite by accident.  I am a quilter and have been for years.  For Christmas, I ordered a Sizzix Big Shot Pro so that I could cut fabric strips.  However, while researching the Sizzix machine, I started seeing all of these wonderful cards that people were making.  I thought to myself that I should get some of those cute dies so that my grandchildren could play and make cute cards and pictures.  Man, did that ever open a can of worms!!  Here I am 2 1/2 months later with a card making station in my quilt studio and spending a whole lot more on stamping and card supplies than on my quilting stuff!!  But oh, it is so much fun.

Now, back to my card...  I made this card for my best childhood friend's birthday.  The stamp is Sugar Nellie's Sitting Joy.  Isn't she beautiful!  It is a digi stamp.  This was my first attempt at coloring with Copic Markers.  I've been taking Suzanne Deans' Copics Class on-line.  It's wonderful, by the way.  I didn't write down the marker numbers that I used but I'll try to do better in the future.
Here's Joy close-up.

I found a u-tube video from Splitcoaststampers that showed how to make an easel card.  I love how they work and you can display your cards.  So, this card was a multitude of firsts for me.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, Cardstock from GinaK, dies from Spellbinders.

I loved this sweet sentiment but couldn't find the stamp for it, so I printed it from my computer.  Even that was a learning experience as I had to search the Internet for fonts.  But, I am very proud of how the card turned out.  I hope you enjoy it, too.
